A harrowing rescue caught on tape
A 19-year-old Ukrainian man believed to be drunk, got stuck on this Sydney cliff back on February 23rd.
A local fisherman noticed the young tourist perched 100 feet above the water dressed only in board shorts.
When rescuers finally got to him they found him asleep.
[Gary Sinclair, New South Wales Ambulance Service]:
"Apparently, he's gone down to have a look at the sunrise and proceeded to move down the cliff but then found he could not proceed either up or down.”
A rescue helicopter was called in, and when an officer reached the young man, he was sleeping.
It took the rescue officer a few shakes before Gary woke up and was safely removed from the cliff.
The man known as Gary had no visible injuries but headed to the hospital for a checkup.
Not mentioned in the above article is that Gary had to pay around $700 dollars for the ambulance ride. The rescue bill estimated around $10,000 dollars was left to the tax payers. As you can imagine they aren't too happy about this!
